COVID-19 Indoor Worship Plan

Gathering indoors during a pandemic is tricky.

On June 14th, 2020, the Church Council adopted our COVID-19 Building Reopening Plan. The plan includes removing high-touch items like hymns and bibles, sanitizing high-touch surfaces like door handles, rails, and light switches, and modifying worship to create the safest environment possible. Click here to download a PDF of the full plan, which follows these guidelines from the Western North Carolina Conference.

Here’s what you need to know if you choose to attend worship in person with us:

  • If you’re in a high-risk group for severe illness from COVID-19, such as having a compromised immune system, pulmonary disease, being over the age of 65, or are caring for high-risk individuals, STAY HOME!

  • If you have COVID-like symptoms, such as fever, coughing, and shortness of breath, STAY HOME! Join us online instead.

  • If you test positive for COVID-19 after coming to worship, let Pastor Dick know. He will notify everyone who was in attendance that they have been exposed without disclosing your name. If anyone who attends worship tests positive for COVID-19, we will suspend in-person gatherings for two weeks as we all self-quarantine.

  • Enter the church through the side door by the ramp and follow signs for entry and exit to the sanctuary. A greeter will help guide you.

  • Wear a mask. If you don’t have one of your own, we’ll have some available, but masks are required for attending worship with us.

  • Bring your own Bible if you’d like to read along during worship.

  • Sanitize your hands before entering the sanctuary. There’s a sanitizing station beside the entrance to the sanctuary.

  • Stay 6 feet apart from anyone you don’t live with. Physically distant seating is marked in the sanctuary.

  • Keep your hands to yourself! As much as we all miss touch, replace handshakes and hugs with waves and foot taps.

  • Wash your hands when you get home after worship.

Currently, we’re holding worship services in our sanctuary. We'll be abiding by the guidance of our bishop and the governor as the pandemic progresses. We strongly encourage folks to get the vaccine as we show compassion for others.
