As the days get shorter and the holidays draw closer, we become more aware of the needs in our community. We all know that winter is a difficult season to get through for many and we’ve identified three ways we can help those around us throughout the month of November:
(1) Give food.
Grace House receives a bi-weekly shipment of food from MANNA, but is always in need of nonperishable staples, especially for Thanksgiving. You can bring your food donations to church on Sunday or drop them off during the week.
(2) Give clothes.
Children and families are always in need of winter clothing this time of year. Bring your gently used or new clothing donations to the church. We’re asking for coats, hats, gloves, long-sleeve shirts, and socks (socks must be new) for both children and adults, and long-sleeve work shirts and jeans for adult men that we’ll share with some of the farmworkers in the community.
(3) Give to the Christmas Fund.
We’ll be buying gifts for families again this year. You’re more than welcome to be part of the team that shops and/or wraps the gifts, but primarily, we need money to purchase the gifts. You can donate on Sunday mornings or mail your contribution to the church throughout the week.
As Paul tells the church in Philippi, if we’re following Christ, we’re like stars in the sky. Thank you for helping us light up the darkness of those in need during this winter season.
